The user selects the desired object store and class, and optionally chooses a software-generated example spreadsheet template that highlights the unique fields for the selected class. This template includes choice list drop-downs and non-null columns to assist the user in managing bulk document management effectively. After completing the spreadsheet and adding metadata as needed, the user selects the import option. Preflight validation checks for metadata conflicts before allowing the upload. Upon successful validation, the software imports documents and records the GUID from FileNet, ensuring it can be saved upon job completion. Users may also opt to version documents as part of their ECM solutions. The system allows multi-value imports using a pipe '|' delimiter, such as A|B|C. Users can pause a job at any time, which will resume at the first non-null ID for the document to import. In the event of server errors, the software tracks the error, allowing the user to either stop and fix the issue or continue with the successful documents. Additionally, for convenience, the software features auto-complete for full file path selection, where the user simply provides the file name, and the software auto-populates the complete path name.

Easily perform bulk document management updates to document metadata. You can update the grid manually, copy down, copy paste, set metadata using an external Excel file you provide, or leverage built-in functions such as TO LOWER, UPPER, SPLIT, MERGE, MAP, INSERT, and DEDUPLICATE. 

Updates also include functionality for security changes, allowing you to easily append the security settings you want to define for the document. Unlike web-based admin tools, the software is very user-friendly, enabling you to select a template document and check or uncheck the security levels/groups you wish to apply. 

For all updates, authorized users have the option to preserve system fields, ensuring that the last modifier and modify date are retained and not overwritten by the new user performing the action. This feature is typically reserved for elevated system administrators and is an essential aspect of ECM solutions, especially when utilizing FileNet export tools.
